Great Swedish Venues

My time in Sweden has taught me that Stockholm is the ideal place to see live rock shows. It is host to some truly amazing venues that have large capacities. This allows big crowds to add to the atmosphere of music gigs.

Debaser Medis

Most people familiar with the Swedish music scene will have already heard of this central Södermalm venue. The company Debaser has other theatres throughout the country. However, Debaser Medis specifically caters to rock.

Well known bands such as US rockers Imagine Dragons and post-rock group Godspeed You! Black Emperor have played here. Smaller local bands also regularly choose Medis as their venue. Most of the time people can enjoy the music here for free before 9 P.M. This place is ideal for discovering never before seen artists.

Annexet

This venue was first built in 1985 and since then has been an important place for seeing acclaimed popular bands. New Order, Steven Wilson and D’Angelo are just some of the artists that have played at Annexet. One of the best things about this particular building is its location. It can be found in the event district of Stockholm Globe City. Annexet is within walking distance of sports venues so you can catch a match before or after a music gig.

Pet Sounds Bar

Pet Sounds is actually a very popular record store found within Stockholm. They have gone on to build this phenomenal venue that regularly hosts open mic nights. These evenings allow you to sample local talent. Many of them have never even recorded their music before.

Personally I like to be able to have a drink while I watch music acts perform live. The Pet Sounds Bar has a diverse drink list to choose from. This diversity extends to the bands that play here. They range from classic Brit acts to brand new Swedish rockers.
